Tumbleweed update #5…

Good news from Doug this morning. Tumbleweed’s left side has been rebuilt! He looks gorgeous…

What a difference three weeks make!

I am so, so grateful to the guys at Drury Auto Body for taking [TMBLWD] under their wing, working so hard to get him back on the road as quickly as possible, and doing such a fine job! Can’t wait to see the end result!!

Doug thinks we’re still on track for pickup on Tuesday or Wednesday, and will be able to tell me Monday afternoon what looks realistic. So, after breakfast this morning I will start staging things by the door… Max will begin to wonder if he’s going to be included in the exodus… We will say goodbye to Ellen, and our little adobe home (with a twinge of sadness to be leaving). It’s been a wonderful spot to be stalled out.

We’ve watched spring slowly emerge over the past two weeks. We’ve met some nice folks, and had some small adventures. I will carry Silver City in my heart for the rest of my life…

Maureeen, glad to hear your chariot’s almost fixed. Where are you headed? I’m in San Antonio for the weekend and about to head to Marfa and points west. Have you been there? The minimal art mecca?

  3. Buzz Masters says:

    Yay! Almost rollin’!

  4. June Kellogg says:

    Hi Maureen,
I was thinking of you last night at a dinner party with old friends who live up in the woods north of Bangor. All four of them have lived in Arizona or New Mexico and/or spent winters there. The conversation turned to the southwest and to their appreciation of Silver City. It sounds like a great place for a winter retreat from Maine and a great place for you to have spent time while your car was on the mend.
There is still lots of snow on the ground in the woods north of Bangor, but we are having a wonderful warm weekend of spring on the coast. So glad that you got to smell the lilacs in Silver City! Hugs to Max, June
