It’s hard to believe we have been here almost one week, and tomorrow morning (January 19th) we are planning to push on. I have mixed feelings about leaving – the weather is very summer-like, we found a fabulous dog park, and it’s been wonderful to rest and recover from the hard driving through cold, make that really cold, weather last week.
The other thing about tomorrow? It’s Max’s first birthday! I can’t believe how he’s changed from the little tiny ball of fluff I brought home on March 25th.
My friend Eliot likes to sing this refrain following “Happy Birthday”: “You’ve sure grown out of your baby ways – HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!” and it’s all too true about Max.
He’s gone from 14 pounds to around 55 pounds, and he stands tall enough to rest his chin on the dining table (but only when I’m not looking!).
He’s a charmer, a rascal, and a fun-loving young dog who will play with any willing dog at the drop of a hat. But then, even as a baby he would do that. So, maybe he hasn’t grown out of his baby ways.
If you want to see him in action, take a peek at this little video on youtube I made of him at the dog park in Islamorada, Florida on the last day of his first year. He’s playing with Dusty – who spends the winter in Islamorada.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAX from your co-star Dusty! Thanks for such a fun day in the dog park. Hope we can do it again tomorrow before you hit the road–maybe even a birthday swim… Sweet dreams Birthday Boy!
Well, I thought you were wishing me a Happy Birthday there for a minute! Looks like Max and I nearly share a birthday; mine was the 16th. Anyway, we share a birthday month.
The pictures are adorable …..and silly.
