Reading Blue Highways

I’m reading William Least Heat Moon’s Blue Highways in preparation for beginning a lengthy trip around the US on mostly two lane roads with my poodle, Max.

I have the perfect vehicle – a Honda Element – which will be tricked out for camping.  It will be a comfortable home away for us as we wend our way first south through the tangle of the northeast corridor down to Florida; then across the panhandle and on to the big sky country.

Max will be just shy of a year old when we leave on January 1, 2011, and I hope he has as much fun on this venture as I plan to have.
